A Jigsaw Puzzle game for Exploring Winnipeg Parks

Having spent the past four summers visiting and photographing parks throughout the city of Winnipeg, I decided to combine my two passions to start development on a jigsaw puzzle game! 📸 + 🌳 = 🧩

I've accumulated well over ten thousand photos covering several hundred city parks and landmarks. I love getting out on my bike during the summer and seeing what's out there. But I've also had a long-term goal since I was young to build my own video games.

Puzzle Pieces in a Playing Area

A jigsaw puzzle game based on photos I've taken seemed like a natural fit, and an achievable goal in a reasonable time-frame. A few weeks ago, I hit a milestone where I'm able to successfully cut a photo into realistic-looking puzzle pieces and scatter them across a playing area. So I have the confidence that this is a project I can complete within a handful of months.

I'll be posting about the project periodically here on the Riley Entertainment blog. I'm sure I'll have plenty to say about bezier curves, jigsaw piece cutting algorithms, and building games for the web...

I'm tentatively hoping for an early 2026 summer release on the website, followed by a Windows desktop version later. Hopefully this is something visitors of the website will find fun! 😊
