Spacesuits, helmets, and packs -- collectively referred to as equipment -- are worn to provide protection from incoming damage and environmental dangers. Boost packs also allow you to fly for short bursts.
Equipment found throughout the galaxy scales as your character progresses, increasingly appearing at a higher tier. Beyond basic equipment, the tiers are Calibrated, Refined, Advanced, and Superior. Note that there is no way to craft an updated tier onto an existing item.
All equipment can be modified at a Spacesuit Workbench, through Equipment research.
I'm still gathering information on all the available equipment, so there may be some gaps in the tables.
Equipment found throughout the galaxy can sometimes have as many as three rare effects. Such equipment is shown as Rare with one effect, Epic with two effects, or Legendary with three effects. These effects are inherent to the equipment. There is no way to craft such effects onto regular equipment.
The following table lists all known equipment effects, organized into logical categories.

The following table lists all known spacesuits, with their base resistances. For most spacesuits, each tier adds an extra 16 to the physical, energy, and EM resistances, while keeping environmental resistances the same.
DR stands for damage rating, and is calculated by summing the physical, energy, and EM resistances, then dividing by the mass. This is a rough guide for which spacesuit provides the most overall damage resistance, when taking its mass into account. Note that while heavier spacesuits do usually provide more protection, they also make it harder to use stealth effectively.
The Mods column shows the amount of additional physical, energy, or EM resistance each of the Ballistics, Energy, EM, or Heavy Shielding mods provide. Note that these mods also increase the mass of the spacesuit by 10% (Ballistics), 12% (Energy and EM), or 30% (Heavy).
