Production Notes - Scene 3 - A New Mission

In this scene, we learn that the military is a victim of its own success - former soldiers who ended their tour of duty must be recalled. By today's cinema standards, this scene should probably have been shortened considerably. By 1940's cinema standards, I think this scene is bang-on - which is what I was going for.

Various editing details you may not have noticed:

• The music track "Mysterious Tombs" plays through in the background to completion, beginning as we see Sergeant Norfolk standing by the window.
• All sound effects were individually adjusted for volume.
• To get Sergeant Norfolk to walk from the window to the front of the desk, I used the "Walk with Flowers" scene.
• To get Brigadier General McDonald to walk from the front of the desk around to the window, I used the "Walk with Briefcase" scene.
• The "Dilemma" shot of McDonald had to use a rather creative camera angle to hide the fact that he's actually standing in completely the wrong location on the set. ;)
