Production Notes - Scene 14 - All of My Love
In this scene, Stephanie and Major Mayweather visit Lance's military gravestone on September 1, 1945 - one year after his death, and two years after Lance and Stephanie were married.
They are given a surprise visit by Sergeant Benjamin Norfolk, Corporal Carl Devin, Private First-Class David Cooper, Private First-Class Alex Serbin, and Sergeant Walter Sears.
Their friend.
Their fellow soldier.
Iconic imagery:
The five soldiers from Lance's military past salute in his honour; as Stephanie looks on, comforted by their unexpected presence.
Visual editing you may not have noticed:
- This scene is filmed on a combination of the Bluescreen and Rural Field sets.
- The shot of Stephanie placing the flower on the ground was something of an illusion... the flower is just set dressing, and the scene used was very carefully edited from "Wake Stand". The raw footage of this looks quite comical. ;)
- The shots of Stephanie and Mayweather standing in silence are from "Factions Agree". The gravestones set dressing was carefully positioned according to where the two characters were standing.
- The close-up shot of Lance's gravestone is a static overlay.
- The circular wipe to the credits is an animated overlay in the online version of the film; but just a circular wipe from VideoStudio in the high-resolution version. ;)
Musical cues you may not have noticed:
- The shot of Stephanie looking surprised plays during a specific string section cue.
- The cymbal cue immediately after plays as Lance's fellow soldiers are revealed to be standing at attention.
- The shot of Stephanie smiling plays during another specific string section cue.
